British Army 22 Engineer Regiment Enhances CQB & FIBUA Training with QUICKBLOCK Charlie Kit

British Army, 22 Engineer Regiment have invested in the QUICKBLOCK Charlie Kit to create a flexible, rapidly deployable urban warfare training environment to enhance their training capability on site, dramatically reducing logistical burden while increasing training frequency and realism.

Instead of relying solely on fixed training facilities such as Copehill Down Training Village, soldiers can now conduct Close Quarters Battle (CQB) and FIBUA (Fighting in Built-Up Areas) training exactly where they work, train and prepare for deployment.

QUICKBLOCK Charlie Kit

The Charlie Kit is the ultimate training solution for advanced tactical preparation. It features a single compound comprising four separate buildings, creating a highly immersive and adaptable training environment.

With a total of 15 rooms, 12 doors, and 12 windows, operators can configure complex layouts that challenge movement, communication, decision-making, and room-clearing techniques.

Designed for maximum changeability, the Charlie Kit delivers endless scenario possibilities to develop and refine advanced tactical skills under realistic conditions.

  • 1 Compound (comprising 4 buildings)
  • 15 Rooms
  • 12 Doors
  • 12 Windows

Adaptable and Easy to Use

Training instructors expressed excitement at being able to shift doors and relocate walls with ease, enhancing combat agility through constantly evolving scenarios. Because unlike permanent structures, QUICKBLOCK allows instructors to rapidly alter layouts between exercises. Doorways can be moved, walls repositioned, and building configurations changed in hours rather than weeks.

Initially built to our recommended layout, the soldiers quickly took ownership of the training environment. They reconfigured the indoor layout into six buildings to meet a new space requirement, demonstrating the flexibility and adaptability of the QUICKBLOCK system.

The kit is soon to be relocated again, and with the soldiers now experienced in the deconstruction and rebuild process, each move will become faster and more efficient. Familiarity with the system significantly increases speed and confidence during assembly.

From Training Compound to Operational Capability

QUICKBLOCK is not just a training asset. Officers within 22 Engineer Regiment are already exploring how the system could support exercises on Salisbury Plain by creating rapidly deployable defensive positions and fortified structures.

When filled with sand or locally sourced material, QUICKBLOCK walls can provide:

  • Ballistic protection
  • Blast mitigation
  • Defensive fighting positions
  • Temporary operational infrastructure

This transforms the system from a simple modular building solution into a dual-purpose capability supporting both training and operational readiness.

As soldiers become increasingly familiar with construction methods, deployment speed and confidence continue to improve a key advantage during exercises and real-world operations.

Shared Training Capability Across the British Army

QUICKBLOCK training environments are already benefiting more than just 22 Engineer Regiment.

Multiple British Army units now have access to the modular urban warfare environment, increasing utilisation and delivering greater value from a single deployable system. By decentralising access to CQB and FIBUA infrastructure, QUICKBLOCK helps units maintain training readiness without waiting for access to fixed national facilities.

Beyond Defence Training: Supporting the Sapper Games 2026

However, QUICKBLOCK isn’t limited to training. This summer, 22 Engineer will host the Sapper Games 2026. The same blocks used weeks earlier to deliver vital CQB and FIBUA training will be transformed into drone gates for a drone racing course and event infrastructure.

On an Army camp, resource versatility is everything, and QUICKBLOCK has that built in.

Why Defence Units Are Investing in QUICKBLOCK Modular Training Infrastructure

Modern defence forces require training kits and general infrastructure that is:

  • Rapidly deployable
  • Adaptable to changing threats
  • Cost-effective
  • Logistically efficient
  • Reusable across multiple mission sets

QUICKBLOCK enables units to create realistic training environments wherever they are needed, without the constraints of permanent construction. For defence and security organisations focused on readiness, flexibility and operational efficiency, modular infrastructure is no longer optional.

It’s essential.
