2024 . . . what a year for QUICKBLOCK!

2024 has been a fantastic year for QUICKBLOCK and here are just a few of our highlights.

A great start

2024 started brilliantly at QUICKBLOCK HQ as we secured a pivotal £1.3 million investment in January. This funding round set us on a path to grow the team and advance our research and development efforts in a few main sectors; defence, commercial and humanitarian.

Made in Britain

Not only did we secure a huge investment round in January, but we also moved our manufacturing to the UK. Partnering with Plas-Tech Injection Moulding in Yorkshire to produce our blocks from 100% UK consumer waste plastics, we are well and truly a sustainable company and living up to our value of ‘Love the Planet’.

Dream Team

At the start of the year, the team had to grow to support QUICKBLOCK’s ambitious plans for expansion, and finding the right people was key. Initially, the core team consisted of Andrew (CEO), Marc (Product Manager), and John (Head of Business Development). By the end of January, Kim (Head of Operations) joined the team, marking the first of many exciting additions.

A few months later, Bryan and Ryan came on board as Business Development Managers, strengthening our commercial efforts. In June, we welcomed Jen as our Marketing Manager, and over the summer, two talented interns, Nicole (Marketing Assistant) and Ewan (Product Assistant), joined us to gain valuable work experience. Both were outstanding contributors and are now part-time employees while completing their university studies.

It’s been an incredible journey watching the team grow and evolve to match our vision!

shelter prototype launch

Since QUICKBLOCK’s inception, our mission has been clear: to create rapid, reliable infrastructure that empowers displaced individuals, whether due to war or natural disasters, to rebuild their lives with a sense of physical and psychological security.

In August, Product Manager Marc proudly unveiled the QUICKBLOCK Shelter prototype, a significant milestone in achieving this mission. The prototype was installed at Camp Roberts in California, USA, where it is now being closely monitored to ensure its effectiveness and impact. This marks an exciting step forward in delivering innovative solutions for those who need them most.

innovation award winners

We were delighted and honoured to win the prestigious innovation award at International Security Expo in London back in September. This recognition highlighted QUICKBLOCK’s ground-breaking work in the Defence and Security sectors, designed to provide ballistic and blast protection as well as a variety of vehicle (HVM) barriers to prevent terror attacks.

large scale quickblock projects

This year has been fantastic for seeing QUICKBLOCK in action in a variety of projects across the UK, here are just a few of them to highlight:

  • A large Close Quarter Battle (CQB) training environment installation at the Infantry Battle School in Brecon for the British Army. Used for training various squads, we’re excited and pleased that our system can be used to hone soldiers’ skills and continue with their development across the army.
  • A trench training environment was built in York by the 2 Med Brigade, focusing on their capacity to train Ukrainian forces using QUICKBLOCK to enhance accurate and “near real-to-life” training in trench environments without the requirement to dig trenches into the ground. Which would take significant time, money and would have required planning permission.
  • Barratt Homes are rolling out QUICKBLOCK as sustainable Health & Safety sign in booths across some sites, to replace temporary infrastructure with fully reusable materials. This is to reduce their carbon footprint and to live up to “reuse, don’t just recycle.”
  • A large police department in the West of England installed QUICKBLOCK for a new training facility for violent person extraction and corridor clearance for skill building exercises.

future projects & trials

We are looking forward to taking part in the UK’s future capability trails and demonstrating its potential for force protection and rapidly deployable infrastructure in the new year.

team christmas celebration

Friday 6th December, Team QUICKBLOCK came together in Edinburgh to celebrate the incredible successes we’ve achieved this year. It was a well-deserved opportunity to unwind, reflect, and enjoy some fun as we gear up for the busy season ahead and an exciting 2025. Here are some snapshots of the amazing team that makes it all happen.

here's to a thriving 2025!

There are many exciting projects and plans for 2025 that we are working towards and will tell you all about in good time. However, thank you to all our customers, supporters, investors, board members, followers and our great team . . . without you all there would be none of the successes above.
